JAY-Z has issued a strong statement calling for justice for George Floyd.
Over the weekend, the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, confirmed that JAY-Z gave him a phone call and urged him to act swiftly in arresting and charging the police officers responsible for George Floyd’s murder. Hov has now confirmed via a statement that he did, in fact, have a “human” conversation with Walz about the case and is demanding that all the officers involved in the incident be prosecuted with the full force of the law.
“After our very earnest conversation, thank you to Governor Walz for doing what’s right and calling in Attorney General Keith Ellison to take over the George Floyd case,” JAY-Z said in his statement on Sunday (via Rolling Stone). “Earlier today, Governor Walz mentioned having a human conversation with me – a dad and a black man in pain. YES, I am human, a father and a black man in pain and I am not the only one. Now I, along with an entire country in pain, call upon AG Ellison to do the right thing and prosecute all those responsible for the murder of George Floyd to the fullest extent of the law. This is just a first step. I am more determined to fight for justice than any fight my would-be oppressors may have.”

JAY-Z isn’t the only big-name celebrity who is speaking out following the tragic death of George Floyd by a racist police officer. Today, Michael Jordan also released a powerful statement calling for justice and equality. We’ve seen corporate America also released statements calling for justice and supporting the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
“I am deeply saddened, truly pained and plain angry,” Michael Jordan said in a statement posted on his Twitter page. “I see and feel everyone’s pain, outrage and frustration. I stand with those who are calling out the ingrained racism and violence toward people of color in our country. We have had enough.”

JAY-Z isn’t just talking, he has been spending his own money to help fight against injustice against minorities and even teamed up with fellow rapper Meek Mill to launch the Reform Alliance organizations, with the main aim to fight for justice reform.
