President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he would like to receive from Russia several divisions of Iskander tactical missile systems. He spoke about this in an interview with the National Defense magazine.

“ I need several divisions in the west, in the south, let them stand. This is 500km [launch range] because our Polonaise (multiple launch rocket system. & mdash; RBK ) & mdash; up to 300 km. Now I am disturbing your president [Vladimir Putin], I need these 500-kilometer rocket launchers here, '', & mdash; Lukashenko said.

He recalled that the Iskander used during the joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises “ West-2021 '', which took place in September. “ We see where both the missile should strike and the [missile system] 'Tochka' use and [anti-aircraft missile system] 'Buk-MB', & mdash; said the president.

According to him, on the whole Belarus “ reliably holds the defense '', but the main thing is that “ at the right time, the Russian people put their shoulder up. Iskander & mdash; a family of Russian operational-tactical missile systems (OTRK), which was developed by the Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering. These complexes are designed to destroy enemy air defense and missile defense systems, as well as objects that they cover, at a distance of up to 500 km.

Joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises “ West-2021 '' took place in September. The Russian and Belarusian authorities called them the goal of checking the level of combat readiness of the armies of the two countries and the ability of the military command to ensure the security of the Union State. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, about 200 thousand soldiers, over 290 tanks, 80 aircraft, 240 guns, and up to 15 ships participated in the exercises.

NATO was concerned about these exercises. In particular, the head of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, asked Moscow to disclose the details of the events, since, according to his information, the number of military personnel involved could be underestimated.
