What are the minimum USE scores approved for admission for 2023/2024?

The Ministry of Education and Science approved the minimum scores for the Unified State Examination (USE) in the 2023–2024 academic year.

What will be the minimum scores?

According to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science, admission to study at universities under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in 2022-2023 will be subject to the following minimum scores:

  • social studies — 45 points;
  • computer science and information and communication technologies (ICT) — 44 points;
  • Russian language — 40 points;
  • literature — 40 points;
  • geography — 40 points;
  • mathematics — 39 points;
  • physics — 39 points;
  • biology — 39 points;
  • chemistry — 39 points;
  • history — 35 points;
  • foreign language — 30 points.

As follows from the order, the minimum score on the USE has increased in several subjects: social science (from 42), physics, biology and chemistry (from 36), literature (from 32) and computer science (from 40).

The Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements (FIPI) also made changes to some tasks of the USE. As follows from the press service of the institute, the changes are aimed at ensuring that graduates are able to better argue their answers, as well as solve practical problems.

What was the average USE score this year?

According to Rosobornadzor, the average USE score has decreased this year:

  • in Russian — from 71.4 to 68.3;
  • in computer science — from 62.8 to 59.47;
  • in biology — from 51.1 to 50.16;
  • in physics — from 55.11 to 54.11.

At the same time, the average score in mathematics (from 55.1 to 56.9), social studies (from 56.4 to 59.9), chemistry (from 53.8 to 54.3), history (from 54.9 to 58) and English (from 73.2 to 73.3).
